Cycling pilgrimage Pominovec 2023

The exhibition from the workshop of the Trenčín Educational Center in Trenčín "MISSION IN CONTEXTS AND CONTEXTS", which is the result of a cross-border project, travels further. This time you will be able to see it in the Pominovec church, where a traditional cycling pilgrimage will take place on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Romanesque Church of St. John the Baptist was built in the 12th century and is currently the only monument in the village of Pominovec, which was destroyed by a flood in the Middle Ages. During the cycle tour, the church will open its doors so that you can see an exhibition presentation of sacral cultural monuments from the 9th-12th centuries from the Trenčín, Trnava, Zlín and South Moravian regions. Through large-format reproductions of original illustrations and accompanying texts, the exhibition will introduce you to well-known and lesser-known cultural-historical objects in the localities of the border regions of the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic associated with the Cyril-Method mission and the beginnings of Christianity.

The Holy Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., and will be celebrated by Father Peter Jankech. The participants of the cycle tour will be given a sticker of St. Kristofa and their bicycles will be blessed.
