Recreational cycling has become increasingly popular in recent years. However, the area near the Slovak-Czech border in the Púchov district still has reserves in this regard.

Interesting opportunities for the development of not only cycling infrastructure are offered by the line of the former forest railway, which led from Lednické Rovné to the village of Zubák during the time of the First Republic.

There are no traces of metal railways in the field today. The extinct technical uniqueness is reminiscent only of the stone bridge at the end of Dolní Breznice, the concrete bridge pillar in the middle of Lednice and the remains of the foundations of three bridges in the forests behind the village. "A significant part of the embankments of the former forest railway are currently used by foresters in forest management; in Lednice, these are used field roads. Otherwise, almost no one knows about its existence, and no information board draws attention to it, “points out Ľuboš Červený, who is one of the volunteers at Lednica Castle.

The defunct forest railway was used for decades to transport timber, passing through the cadastre of several municipalities. Although it has lost its importance, the territory it has led to still has enormous potential. The tourist-attractive region still lacks an official cycle route, which would cross, for example, the state border. Currently, athletes use only field roads. "A cycle route that would connect two such important monuments, such as the park with the manor house in Lednice-Rovno and Lednica Castle, would certainly be interesting and would undoubtedly contribute to the development of the whole region," says Červený, who crossed part of the defunct route by bicycle. According to him, this is a less demanding route. "The embankments of the former railway have a very pleasant slope, as the trainsets cannot overcome too steep slopes. Therefore, the future cycle route would be very suitable for less able cyclists, who are discouraged by the hilly terrain of the roads to Lednice, "he made clear.
