Great Javorina is a hill known for tourists in the White Carpathians, which offers a great view of the wider landscape. From an altitude of 970 m above sea level, under ideal conditions, Schneeberg can be seen in the Alps, from the Slovak mountains to Mala Fatra and Veľká Fatra, even the Western Tatras. In addition, it is located on the Slovak-Czech border, which adds symbolic significance to the Great Javorina. At its peak the Brotherhood peoples have been meeting since the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The tradition dates back to the revolutionary year of 1848.

A new dimension was achieved by the Celebration of the Czech and Slovak Brotherhood on Javorina in 1990, when representatives of the two neighboring nations unveiled the monument of Czech-Moravian-Slovak monument. After the division of the Commonwealth, "The brothers will always be there ..." at the end of July regularly organize festivities on the top of the Great Javorina. The patronage of their organization is handed over by towns and municipalities on the Slovak and Czech sides of the border.

On Javorina there are hiking trails from Vápeniek, Květná and Kamenná bouda on the Moravian side, Lubina, Starej Turej and Myjava on the Slovak side. There is also a comfortable asphalt road leading to the hill, after which it can also get less mobile.

On all visitors just below the summit, at the height of 920 meters, is waiting with the open arms of Holuby's cottage. The name was given to the native of Lubina, Evangelical parson, botanist and ethnographer Jozef Ľudovít Holubym. The building is 93 years old and it's a respectable age not only for man. The base stone of the cottage was laid in July 1923 and a year later it was open to the public. Tourists have finally enjoyed a cozy place where they could be hiding during disasters, refresh themselves or relax. It has burned down for two years, but only stone foundations have remained, but it has been restored again. The owners of the property have changed, some have invested in their invitations according to their possibilities and interest. Extensive reconstruction was completed by the cottage in 1968. The current owner Miroslav Martinček continues with the building modifications, increasing the area of ​​the restaurant by enclosing a covered terrace.

In almost a century of its existence, it changed its shape, but still fulfills its basic function - to prick and saturate tired tourists. We visited it in the middle of the week, and at the cottage we met groups of tourists from Bohemia and Slovakia. In addition to the three boys, they were mostly seniors, their hair had blotted their hair into white, but reason and heart, love for nature and tourism remained young. After refreshments on the cottage, they stepped out of their way to the next mountain hike.

"It's beautiful, though the weather has changed today. A strong wind frowned and frowned. This is why we have stayed a little longer in the cottage, "explains Karl of Uherský Brod. According to the members of the group variations on the chate well, you can choose meals "for carnivores", but on their come also vegetarians. "It's affordable for us to pay by credit card, but at least we are told that we can pay for" abroad "our currency," laughs Karl and hurries for friends.

We enter the cottage, we welcome nicely arranged tables. The meals on the first page have a welcoming part with a brief history. Prices are not really overwhelmed, the rich choice of meals is surprising. Not only classic sausages, but also goulash, snacks, meals, specialties. Near the cottage there are four ski lifts and especially in winter skiers will delight Holuby's herbal tea, or "harder" tea cabinets, enhanced by a caloric drink.

In the meals there is also a project of Pigeon Gardens, which is witnessed by Martinček. She plans to grow fruit, vegetables, herbs, and later pet animals. This will allow the production of mackerel, marmalade, syrups for their own consumption, or for sale from the yard. Later on, a bakery for bread and cakes will also be added.

The visitor will also be pleased with the offer of 11 kinds of natural fruit and vegetable juices, made especially for Holuby's cottage. During our refreshment, a scream of parrot parrot was heard from the staircase. This has become a mascot of Holuby's hut for many visitors. Everybody, however, shocked two thieves a year ago, who stole the beautiful parrot and apparently wanted to monetize him. Thanks to the swift intervention of the called police officers, Pedro returned to his place and continued to entertain his guests with his "speech" at the cottage.

Many like to take away the monument from their stay on the cottage, they can choose from commemorative coins, herbal teas, flower jewelry, calendars and monumental items. In the comfort of home they can then mention a beautiful region on the Slovak-Czech border, where the brothers will always come to an end.
