The Svinica water reservoir is located between the towns of Trenčianske Jastrabie and Svinná , in the valley of the Svinica River . The Svinice watercourse is a protected natural area . The Svinica water reservoir spans 13 ha . It is situated in a picturesque setting below the highest peak of Považský Inovec.

The Svinica River - originated in Považský Inovec on the northeast slope of Inovec Hill, near the Chalet under Inovcom . Protected area along the upper part of Svinice protects the original preserved trough of a mountain brook with its flora and fauna. It flows into the water reservoir and runs into Bebrava near the town of Bánovce nad Bebravou. Svinica is also a trout catchment area.
The fishing village of Svinná is also surrounded by the dam. They regularly organize brigades to decorate the surroundings of the dam to enjoy the moments spent fishing and to organize popular fishing or other activities.
