Bojnická Kalvária above the town , towards Nitrianske Rudno , is hidden in a forest with a pine scent. It was set up by the administrator of the Bojnice dom . 1816 . From the center of Bojnice you can reach it by a pleasant walk in 15 minutes. The calvary starts on the road with the mark indicating the end / beginning of the Bojníc in the direction of Šútovce. Nearby (still in Bojnice) is a paid parking lot, but parking is possible even at the first stop.
Calvary , the Latin Calvaria, the Golgotha of Hebrew, represents the place of the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth in Jerusalem, according to the testimony of the Gospel. In Europe, the first exterior cross-roads - imitations of the holy cities of Jerusalem appear in the 15th century. The faithful thus gained the opportunity to follow Christ on the path of his suffering and to embrace the greatness and sense of this sacrifice.
During your journey, you will discover six stops of the Cross Road (small chapels) with painted paintings on sheet metal (part of an unknown folk master), at the top with the group of Crucifixions and the central baroque chapel of the Seventh-day Virgin Mary .
In the past Calvary was visible from far away . The slope over the Bojnice was not forested, Calvary formed visible stops, accents in the country, finished with the central chapel. In nearly 200 years since its inception, the pine forest has grown massively and today it is hiding under its protective angel wings in the shade of trees.
A little over the chapel is a lookout tower , from which you can admire the whole Hornonitrian basin.
