Dominant with onion helmet
The parish church is one of the most significant dominants of the Nové Město nad Váhom.
The Romanesque Basilica stood at its place in the 13th century. It was greatly rebuilt by the Augustinians from 1414 to 1423, whom the Lord Stick of Stiborice invited from Beckovski Stibor Castle. On the site of the basilica, which retains the lower part of the tower with a stone portal, a new Gothic central church was built. The octagonal ground plan is exceptional. To the long presbytery of the church, a sacristy arrived at the beginning of the 16th century by a polygonal closure.
On the initiative of Jakub Hašek, in 1667 -1675, the Gothic central church in the baroque style was transformed by the insertion of arcades, creating three nave boats. Baroque stuccoes and wall paintings created Italian masters over the course of fifteen years.
The churchmen have also been presented in later periods. In the 18th century, the western front and the tower rose and covered with an unusual onion helmet. Statiku veženavyše supported by massive pillars.
Admirers of fine art attract to the main altar the Baroque statue of Our Lady with Jesus (the so-called Hašek's Madonna). Admirable is also the Rococo Rococo Crucifixion in the Side Ship, the Rococo Pulpit and the 18th Century organ and the statue of St. John of Nepomuk. The illustration of the cross path is a work of JB Klemens from 1870.
