Adventure on screen and in the festival exhibition hall
"The joy of adventure is probably what unites all HoryZonty festival enthusiasts. That's why this year we chose a topic that is close to us and everyone can find their own adventure in it," explains Zuzana Jargašová, the photo contest's main coordinator. He points out that the theme "Adventure" is broad enough for the contestants to let their imaginations run wild and impress the jury, but above all to enchant the festival visitors with their images. Photos can be registered and uploaded directly on the website or sent to the e-mail address of the festival by the end of the week. The best images will be presented on the website of the event, printed and exhibited during the duration of the festival, from November 9 to 11, 2023, at the Crew Club in Trenčín. A three-member jury will select and award four of the forty most interesting photos - the three best photos (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) will be awarded and the Grand Prix prize will also be awarded to the absolute winner.
Both the runner and the traveler will have a separate exhibition
Another exhibition that the audience will be able to see during the festival will be an exhibition of photos capturing the runner Soňa Kopčoková, entitled "Woman and Mountains". Soňa introduced herself to the festival audience last year, live on stage, and also in Viliam Bendík's film "Alone on the Road". This time, visitors can remember this interesting personality of Slovak ultra running through the photos of Juraj Kožiak. The trio of photo exhibitions will be complemented by an author's exhibition entitled "Pan American Highway" by Gustáv Stibrányi, who was the first in the world to ride the nearly 26,000-kilometer route from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego on an e-bike. The active 70-year-old managed to cross this route across 16 countries in 284 days. It will also be presented at the festival as part of a discussion about the film "Gust's American Dream", which the audience will be able to watch on the very first evening of the festival.
Tomáš Vejmola will also be a guest of HoryZont with his travel stand-up projection about traveling on a non-traditional means of transport - a tuk-tuk across Africa. The well-known Czech meteorologist and presenter Alena Zárybnická will tell visitors how the weather is forecast for climbers and how to cope with the weather. What cannot be missed at the film festival are outdoor films. During the three days of the festival, there will be a total of almost 30. In addition, visitors can look forward to a number of accompanying events and competitions for the general public.
