Archaeological research in Nemšová, in the town of Klíč

In the town district of Kľúčová in Nemšová, locality Pod horou, archaeological research has been underway since November last year under the leadership of the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín, which is related to the planned construction of roads.

During the research, archaeologists managed to capture interesting findings from several time horizons in the area of communications.

"The first area was inhabited by the bearers of Baden culture in the late Stone Age. Their possible sudden extinction is evidenced by a massive layer of soil, covering the remains of their settlement. Subsequently, the area was used by the bearers of the Lusatian culture in the Late Bronze Age, after which we managed to document several dwellings. From this period we captured a number of findings from bronze, e.g. dagger, combat chakra, or several needles and pieces of jewelry. Lastly, we managed to document a part of the settlement from the High Middle Ages in the researched locality " , explained the head of the research, Mgr. Juraj Malec, PhD.

Archaeological research began in November 2020, the research investor is the city of Nemšová. It is scheduled to end in the coming days. Archaeological finds will be presented to the public after professional conservation.
