The Hornonitrie civic association has been initiating and creating development projects for 22 years and subsequently implements them in the Hornonitrie micro-region in the cadastres of 9 Hornonitria member municipalities in various areas. It actively organizes events of a cultural, sporting, educational nature, etc. It emphasizes the preservation of regional traditions and the presentation of domestic non-professional artists and craftsmen.
One of the events that became the bearer of this idea is the Day of Municipalities of the Pravnianska Valley. In 2019, a one-day festival of folklore, traditional crafts and regional tastes took place on the square in Nitriansky Pravna for the sixth time. From early in the morning, representatives of municipalities and volunteers prepared delicious village specialties according to preserved recipes from individual municipalities of the Hornonitrie microregion, so that at noon visitors can taste traditional bryndza dumplings from Chvojnice, dryings from Nedožier-Brezian, , drizzle soup from Poruba, Pravnianske lekvárové slíže with nuts, beans from Kľačno and Malinovské šúľance. The program featured performers from folklore and singing groups in the region: FSk Lubená, SS Roveň, SS Vrbinka, Neutrataler, and Schmiedshauer. Every year, the show contributes to the preservation of the original folk culture in the form of songs, customs and dialects, which are unique for each of the villages. The wind music festival, organized by the municipality of Nitrianske Pravno, also contributed to the enrichment of the program.
Every year the event is enriched by interesting accompanying events. Artists and craftsmen from all over the region presented themselves at the craft fair. Another attraction of the event was the exhibition Tiling in Slovakia , which will last at the municipal office in Nitra Law for the public until 08.10. 2019 (according to OcÚ opening hours). The education of adults and children was complemented by clay creative workshops with demonstrations of the production of tiles in the mold and on the potter's wheel. All the children wanted to try it, and the willing lecturers and master potters Rastislav Haronik and Ivan Mada made it possible for them. The event was publicly supported by the Art Support Fund, which was also the main partner of the event. The Regional Cultural Center in Prievidza, the Žiar Local Action Group and the Prievidza Bakeries and Confectioneries also contributed to the successful event with around 2,000 visitors.
