Directly below Veľká Javorina you will come across one of our oldest mountain huts. It bears the name of a native of Lubina, botanist, ethnographer and ethnographer Jozef Ľudovít Holuby. Thanks to the good access and the number of attractions in the area, it is one of the places that are in the search for domestic and foreign tourists.
Its history dates back to 1923, when they laid the foundation stone of a new "cozy" at a strong spring of mountain water. The cottage grew up in a place from which there was a good view of Považie and which was also hidden from the strong northwest wind. It first opened its doors to the public in July 1924, but did not work for long. Two years later, it was destroyed by a large fire within seven hours. However, it has been renovated and today visitors will find accommodation and a restaurant. “Holuby's cottage is a large solitaire, the nearest location with heat, drinks and food is located about one and a half hours on foot. It is thus an excellent starting and finishing point for cross-country skiers, hikers, cyclists in the summer, and motorcyclists often visit us, “says Róbert Oravec from Holuby's cottage.
The facility at an altitude of 920 m above sea level is open all year round. Most visitors come here during events that commemorate the common history of Czechs and Slovaks, ie on the last Sunday in July and on New Year's Eve. However, he can enchant in any season. "Near the cottage there are many attractions, whether it is a former military tower, Jelenec lookout tower, Dibrovov memorial, the Nazi-burned village of Nárcie or various natural beauties. If you want to relax outside the busy places and choose Holuby's cottage, you will definitely not regret it, "added Oravec.
