The town in the middle stream of the Nitra Partizánske River was formed mainly by the footwear industry. His current name, however, reflects the historical events that took place during the Slovak National Uprising.
The town of Šimonovany was originally a town of Hornonitrians. However, their destiny changed the decision of the Zlín company Baťa, which decided to build a shoe factory. In 1948 the name of the village changed to Baťovany - according to the settlement. Subsequently, the municipality acquired the status of a town, which is still under the name Partizánske until today.
The Baťovian became Partizanske precisely on February 9, 1949. It was a prize of local people who actively participated in the Slovak National Uprising. The people who worked in Bata's factory created during the Second World War an illegal cell of the Communist Party of Slovakia, which was banned at that time. In August 1944, the factory occupied armed partisans, with the involvement of 2000 citizens and employees of local factories in the SNP.
The events of the breakthrough time in Partizánsky are commemorated by many monuments, monuments and memorial plaques. A memorial at the entrance to the former ZDA is, for example, a memoir of 78 factory employees who fell during the Uprising. At the foot of the Stráň hill, behind the Nitra river stands again the so- The Lower Monument - 35 unidentified partisans were built at the execution site.
However, Partizanske does not only offer memories of war events. Visit the City Museum, the renovated Water Castle, the Little Bielice Observatory and the dominant of the city - the Church of the Divine Heart of Jesus. You can also take a walk to the natural grounds of the Bielice mud. The almost three-hectare unique wetland site with mineral thermal springs hides a number of rare marshy plants - among others, the endangered maricas.
