Although the restoration of historical monuments in Slovakia could be compared to running on long distances, looking at the result is worth all the effort. The TreBuChET project - Trenčín, Bučovice, Protecting European Traditions, in which the Trenčín County cooperated with the cities of Trenčín and Bučovice, is a beautiful example of cross-border cooperation that has brought new opportunities on both sides of the border.

Thanks to the project, four historically significant localities have been restored to their former glory - the Southern fortifications of Trenčín Castle, the adjacent Cherry Orchard and the Kalvária Forest Park with a part of Hradisko near our neighbors in Bučovice. Visitors can get to Trenčín Castle with a new entrance from the Brezina forest park. "As part of this project, we managed to make another 7,000 m2 available to the public and to restore or rebuild up to 9 buildings of the southern fortifications," said Jaroslav Baška, mayor of Trenčín. As for the size of the accessible area, Trenčín Castle is the second largest castle in Slovakia.
