They also remembered the historical legacy of November 1989 in the regional city of Trenčín

The two-day commemorative event called November 1989 was prepared by the city of Trenčín for its inhabitants to remember together the events they experienced during the Gentle Revolution.

One of the most important events in the history of the formation of an independent Slovakia was commemorated by the people of Trenčín on Sunday, November 17, 2019, by laying wreaths at the Memorial to the Victims of Communism on Náměstí sv. Anny . It consists of the four pillars of justice and a bronze plaque on which anonymous faces are located. The work, reminiscent of the suffering of 70,000 executed or imprisoned opponents of the totalitarian regime, was created by local academic sculptor Igor Mosný. "Freedom means responsibility. Let's respect her, let's protect her and especially treat her responsibly, " said the mayor of Trenčín, Jaroslav Baška.

Residents of the regional town can also mention it on Monday, when a series of concerts is planned on Mierovo náměstí, in the Lúč Club and the Hviezda Cinema. Trenčians will be introduced to Czech and Slovak musicians who experienced the events of their own life 30 years ago.

November 17 has been a national holiday since 2001 - the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy.
