The first of June will be etched in the consciousness of the cycling public by opening the cycle route, which was created as part of the cross-border project On a Bicycle in the Footsteps of History. From today, all lovers of two wheels can get to know nature and cultural monuments on the Slovak and Czech side of the border, thanks to a joint project of Trenčín County and the town of Brumov-Bylnice.

This unique work was built thanks to funding from the INTERREG VA SK-CZ 2014 - 2020 Cooperation Program . Investment costs for the construction part on the Slovak side reached the amount of almost 2.5 mil. EUR , while co-financing by TSK is 5%. "The symbolism of this cycle route is that it connects not only two states, two regions and two castles, but mainly good people. Therefore, I want to thank all those who were at its birth or participated in the implementation of this project, " said the mayor of Trenčín, Jaroslav Baška.

On the Slovak side, the cycle route consists of two parts - a marked cycle route from Trenčín Castle to the old railway bridge in Trenčín and a newly built independent body (11.3 km), which leads along Váh through the village Zamarovce, below the oldest pilgrimage site Skalka nad Váhom to Nemšová. , where it is fed to the already existing cycle route. The diocesan bishop of Nitra, Viliam Judák, took care of its blessing and bringing it to life.
