Close to Slovaks and Czechs

The road from the industrial Považie will take you past Nový Mesto nad Váhom to the region below Veľká Javorina. The highest peak of the White Carpathians dominates the area, where there are mainly distinctive villages and kopanice. The sidewalks in the area will delight all demanding tourists, who are seen here very often. Those who get tired of wandering in nature can be addressed by several historical monuments and museums.

The Podjavorin region is located in the western part of the Trenčín region. It occupies the district of Nové Mesto nad Váhom and passes freely to the Myjava digits. It is located on the border of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. From the main ridge of the White Carpathians, you can admire the view of both states, which are even closer to this place. During the summer, the Celebrations of the Brotherhood of Czechs and Slovaks are regularly held here, which refer to the common past of two independent nations today. The tradition of celebrations dates back to the times of the Štúrovo family, who met here with enlightened people from Bohemia and Moravia.

Not only this part of the White Carpathians enchanted our ancestors, but even today this region is one of the most popular tourist destinations. It offers mostly mild to moderately demanding routes. You can get to Veľká Javorina itself thanks to several sidewalks, both from the Slovak and Czech side. Among those that are also historically interesting is Chodník kpt. Miloš Uhr, who will take you to the SNP memorial on the Roh hill, among other things.

During a trip through this region, you will come across a number of villages where the traditional culture is still alive and the original architecture has been preserved. In addition, several of them offer visitors the opportunity to stop and get more information - even about the famous local natives, of whom there are many. In the village of Lubina, for example, the birth house of Samuel Štúr, the father of Ľudovít Štúr, which currently houses a museum, has been preserved to this day. Another in Moravský Lieskov offers a cross-section of culture that is typical for this area. You will also discover valuable monuments in Zemianské Podhradie. The Ostrolúcký manor house from the 17th century attracts the most attention. Personalities such as Matej Bel and Ľudovít Štúr himself also awakened in it in their time. Other important monuments also hide the towns below Javorina. In Stará Turá, for example, it is the medieval "Hussite Tower", which belonged to the now defunct church. In Novo Mesto nad Váhom, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is an architectural jewel, and the central Freedom Square with its late Renaissance and Baroque houses is also interesting.
