In our series of representation of the individual districts of Trenčiansky samosprávny kraj, we continue to the upper Nitra.
Partizánske district is only a small area, but it offers more opportunities to spend free time. Lovers of the night sky, the Baťa architecture, but also those who are looking for relax after a busy week, certainly do not complain.
On the map you would find this region in the southernmost part of the county. It is surrounded by Bánovce nad Bebravou and Prievidza districts and is also neighboring with Banská Bystrica and Nitra region. The Protected Landscape Area of Ponitrie, which covers the parts of the Tribeč and Vtáčnik Mountains, enters its territory.
The area of Partizánske is 301 square kilometers. At the end of 2015, more than 46,300 inhabitants lived in this area within 22 municipalities and the only city - Partizanske.
In the past, this territory was not administratively unified and divided between Trencin, Nitra and Tekov County. Today it is the center of the Partizánske district, which is one of the youngest towns in Slovakia. His history is closely linked with the Baťa Zlín company, which built a shoe factory in the once separate village of Šimonovany. Thanks to this, the city still carries the seal of Baťa's architecture. However, visitors can see other historical and touristically interesting buildings. For example, in today's Simonovany area there are up to two buildings that were built in the 13th century. The first is the unique newly reconstructed Water Castle belonging to the oldest preserved Gothic-Renaissance noble mansions in Slovakia, the second Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
The district of Partizánske can also be described as the region of manor houses. In the neighborhood of the town, there are several former mansions with breathtaking parks. Among them is the manor house in Great Uherce, which is among the pioneering works of English gothic romance in Hungary. Also known is the formerly Renaissance manor house in Brodzany, where the Slavonic Museum is today. With this district, the names of several prominent Slovak artists are associated. Skačany is the birthplace of the music composer František Gaal, from Brodzian again the poet and the publisher Vladimír Reisel. With another Slovak poet Valentin Beniak, Chynorany is connected. On the centenary of his birth, he even opened a memorial room in his native village. There are personal affairs of a representative of Slovak symbolism and also examples of his literary work. In Klížské Hradiste, a local part of the village of Veľká Klíž, again in 2015, they opened a faithful replica of the house of the writer's house Ladislav Ťažký.
Relaxation and bathing opportunities are offered by Malé Bielice, the outskirts of Partizánskeho. It generates warm mineral water reaching a temperature of up to 40 degrees Celsius. It has a positive effect on the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, rehabilitation and regeneration of the body. Close to the spa is Malé Bielice Airport, but also the only observatory in the Trenčín Region.
