In the past, he was the main base of the Partizan Brigade of Jan Žižka, who operated in the Strážovské mountains. From the time of the Second World War bunkers are also coming from around. In one of them, the Nazis burned seven injured partisans alive.
On Saturday, August 25, we recall the 74th anniversary of the outbreak of fighting that had a major impact on our history. Part of this year's celebrations should be, in addition to a pious act, a historical show of World War II fights, a concert of military music, or a march of the Immortal Regiment. The program will complement the accompanying events, including the handball tournament in Bánovce nad Bebravou, as well as the exhibition entitled Do not forget about a common history.
Jankov's hill also boasts a beautiful view, which is a great attraction for athletes. At the same time, it is a natural reserve with rare deciduous forests and unique fauna and flora. For example, tourists come here during the traditional march called Military Fifty, which is part of the celebration of the liberation of Trenčín as well as other municipalities.
The Museum of the Partizanske Brigade of Jan Žižka was housed in the Jankov Vrch, which was later moved to Bánoviec nad Bebravou.
