Since 9 March 2020, measures against the possible spread of coronavirus have been in force, which have also affected the creation and organization of cultural events not only in the Trenčín Region. During 2 weeks, dozens of lectures, concerts, performances and other events with a higher number of participants were canceled or moved. Given the current situation, it is uncertain when culture and the possibility of mass meetings in public will return to our streets.

The city, civic associations, individuals, but also regional tourism organizations (OOCRs) are trying to find, if possible, alternative dates for planned events. However, this is not always possible. According to Anna Kardošová, Executive Director of OOCR Horné Považie, all cultural and sports events in Považská Bystrica have been canceled, while it is not yet possible to say which of them are just being moved to another date and which will not take place at all this year.

"Based on the situation with the spread of COVID-19, we were forced to postpone the dates to the two planned events. The first is the grand opening of the Summer Tourist Season 2020 in the Upper Nitra region. The event was planned for 1-2.5.2020 and for the first time was to last two days, for which a cultural, musical and entertainment program and a press conference were also planned. The opening of the season is one of the key events in Bojnice with high attendance. The second event translated so far is the Wine Festival with the planned date of April 25, 2020. So far, the events are only postponed indefinitely and based on the development of the situation, their date will be re-evaluated, " commented Andrea Malátová, Executive Director of OOCR Upper Nitra-Bojnice Region, commenting on the current situation.

Representatives of OOCR Trenčianske Teplice and OOCR Trenčín and the surrounding area are also added with information about the events, who inform that the events in March and April will not take place. The traditional Literary Spring event, which was to take place from March 5 to June, was canceled in Trenčianske Teplice. Only the very beginning took place - the opening with Boris Filan. The ceremonial presentation of the Karel Čapek Award will also take place this year on an altered date, either in October or November.

The date of the next event is currently May 10, 2020, when the 4th year of the Liberation Run will take place in Kálnice. The fate of other events will not be discussed until April and May, based on current events and available information.
