The Trenčín Castle National Cultural Monument, managed by the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín under the founding authority of the Trenčín Self-Governing Region, will undergo further reconstructions between 2 September and the end of November 2021. The reconstruction works will be carried out in a financial scope of almost 110,000 euros, including VAT.

From September 2, 2021, the replacement of the roof covering on Matúš's tower will begin. The intention is to remove and dispose of the old wooden shingles, replace the battens and install a new covering made of exclusively split shingles from deciduous spruce. The museum underwent a reconstruction due to leaks into the attic of the tower building, on which repairs were carried out gradually from 1978 to 1999. The time for replacing the roofing should not exceed 45 calendar days from the start of work. The project will be implemented with financial support from the budget of the Ministry of Culture in the amount of 38,000 euros. The agreed price of the work in its entirety is 52,494.63 euros without VAT.

Impregnation against wood-destroying insects in the total value of EUR 4,419.19, including VAT, is also planned on the wooden parts of the trusses on the Matúš Tower and Barracks building.

At the beginning of September 2021, the Trenčín Museum also plans to replace the 36-meter-long wooden railing between the fourth and fifth castle gates . The new railing made of dry oak lumber will be impregnated with linseed oil. The investment for the replacement of the railing amounts to EUR 8,350, including VAT from own resources.

In the period from 2 September to 30 November 2021, painting work will also be carried out in the Barborin Palace . The price of the work represents the amount of 5,397.99 euros including VAT. Part of the interior lighting will also undergo reconstruction, where the light sources will be replaced with more economical and aesthetic ones. The luminaires were procured through public procurement through the EKS in the total amount of EUR 4,066.80 with VAT.

Repairs are also waiting for the southern fortifications, specifically 19 niches (shooting ranges) . The plan is to remove the weathered plaster and the original masonry of the vaults, masonry of the removed parts of the masonry and plastering of the new masonry. These works will require € 18,985.78, including VAT, and according to the works contract, the repairs of the niches should be completed by 30 November 2021.

In the coming weeks, Trenčín Castle will also see the replacement of windows and doors at the Summer Tower, 5th Castle Gate, Ľudovít Palace and the carriage house. The cost of the work amounts to EUR 9,300, including VAT.

Reconstruction work at Trenčín Castle will take place over three months. Due to their complexity, the castle will be open to the public without the upper castle, with the exception of the Zápoľ Palace, the large bastion and the ground floor of Ľudovít Palace. The route of the small and large circuit will be available for visitors, which will be reflected in the lower ticket price.
