From the castle estate the kingdom of glass

Wine or champagne glasses are part of the equipment of probably most households in Slovakia. Several pieces of glass were created in the region that we will imagine this time. The village of Lednické Rovne and its surroundings have been connected for more than 100 years with the glassmaking tradition, which is still lived here today. However, this is not the only thing that today's "kingdom of glass" can attract tourists.

Lednické Rovne, together with other municipalities, once belonged to the administration of Lednica Castle. The locals were united by the property relations of the nobility, but also by the common duties associated with it. When the walls of Lednice became uncomfortable with the lord of the castle, they decided to move to the plain near Váh.

The territory of the original Lednice estate now extends into the Púchov district, and partly into the Ilava district. It lies between the White Carpathians and Strážovské vrchy. On one side it is bordered by the river Váh, on the other by the border with the Czech Republic.

The development of the glass industry, which was related to Jozef Schreiber and his family, had a major impact on Lednická Rovno and its surroundings. A large businessman bought a large estate in the village and in 1892 built a glassworks here. Thanks to a new impulse, the stagnant village and its surroundings began to awaken and develop, while reorienting themselves to industrial production.

The territory has preserved this character to this day. However, the region can attract tourists, especially thanks to the beautiful nature that surrounds it. You can explore it thanks to several hiking trails. Some of them lead to Vršatec, others, for example, to Lednice rocks, which are a natural monument. It is possible to practice hiking here even in winter, the terrain is undemanding in places, but elsewhere you have to prepare for a steeper climb.

Of the historical monuments, the most interesting are the ruins of the Lednice castle from the 13th century. It boasts a tunnel cut into the rock and a view that can be reached via stone steps. However, it is also worth stopping in the village of Horovce, where the mausoleum of the Vietoris family is located. It was an important family in the Trenčín capital, whose members gained the highest capital and ruling positions. After a comprehensive renovation, the municipality plans to establish a museum in the mausoleum. The dominant feature of Lednice Equals is the originally Renaissance manor house, which was later rebuilt by Count Aspremont. At the end of the 18th century, he also founded a magnificent English park, in which today you will find the mausoleum of the Schreiber family, the remains of an old cemetery and the church of the goddess Minerva.
