Every year, more kilometers of safe cycling routes are added to Slovakia. One of the most important connections in the Trenčín Region is the Vážská Cyklomagistrála, which is gradually growing along the Váh River. Several towns and villages are gradually feeding on it. This creates an interesting cycling network in Považie, within which families with children, as well as athletes who prefer longer routes, will find something to their liking.

From Trenčín itself, you can now get practically by bike to the border of the region in Horná Streda. The two completed stages of the Vážská cycle route are approximately 35 kilometers long and also lead around Beckov Castle. Another cycle route from the center of the regional town next to Váh will take you to Nemšová, while you can make one of the stops under the monastery in Skalka nad Váhom. These two important roads will soon be connected by a cycle path, which is being built by the city of Trenčín with the help of Eurofunds. "The new cycle route with a length of more than 2.6 km will be part of the concept of the development of bicycle transport in Trenčín, which will connect the city districts with the superior cycling system of the Vážská cycle route. At the beginning, it will lead partly along the local road and then go to the dam. Under the old road bridge, it will cross into the new cycle path next to Váh and end at the old railway bridge, " said Erika Ságová, a city spokeswoman.

Many cyclists are also waiting for the connection of Trenčín with Dubnice nad Váhom. This section of the Vážská cycle route already has a valid building permit. "We are currently communicating with the representatives of the Ministry of Transport about the possibility of financing this section from the Recovery Plan. At the same time, public procurement is underway for the construction contractor. As we cannot influence these processes, it is relatively difficult to define the beginning of the implementation, " said Lenka Kukučková, a spokeswoman for the Trenčín County.
