The 74th year of the oldest chamber music festival in Central Europe begins in Trenčianske Teplice

Trenčianske Teplice, July 2, 2019 - Music Summer Trenčianske Teplice is 74 years old. The oldest chamber music festival in Central Europe starts on July 4. The spa town will welcome musical ensembles and artists such as the Slovak Philharmonic, Ľubica Vargicová, but also Petr Lipa, Mária Čírová and Jozef Hollé. The festival lasts two months and will bring 11 unique performances.

The Music Summer Festival has been an integral part of the spa town of Trenčianske Teplice since 1937. It is currently one of the city's top cultural events and is described as the oldest festival of classical music in Central Europe. Every year, visitors come to the Music Flight not only from the surrounding cities, but also from all over Slovakia and abroad.

The program of the 74th year will offer quality domestic and foreign performers of classical music, but again it is enriched with genres such as jazz or pop, and after successful previous years it will also bring theatrical performances. "In 2017, we decided to redesign the festival's dramaturgy so that we could change the view of the festival and make it attractive even for a younger target group. Following our vision, we have been moving the program for the third year in a row so that it is not only high-quality and artistically valuable, but also interesting for the audience, ”says Michal Vidan, the festival's music dramaturg.

The Music Summer program will bring 11 performances in 10 weeks. The 74th year of the festival will open with a gala concert by well-known Slovak artists - Peter Lipa, Barbora Švidraňová and Veronika Strapková accompanied by the jazz orchestra Big Band of the Žilina Conservatory and will bring orchestral works connected with jazz art.

During the summer, visitors can also look forward to chamber concerts such as opera performances by Ľubica Vargicová and Gustav Beláček accompanied by pianist Daniel Buranovský or a piano show by piano virtuoso Jozef Hollý.

Interesting concerts will be the performance of the Czech singer Dan Bárta with the Czech jazz band Robert Balzar Trio or the concert of the Fats Jazz Band, which plays original authentic hot-jazz and swing music transcribed from the original old shellac recordings into notes in the form of transcription and exactly the arrangements are created as they were recorded in their time by the first jazz legends.

Visitors will also find a concert by Pavel Hammel, Mária Čírová, Gypsy Devils, a music and dance performance by SĽUK Krajinka and a theatrical performance Three Stewardesses in Paris with actors Richard Stanke, Ján Dobrík, Henrieta Mičkovicová, Ivana Kubačková and Mária Breinerová. The end of September 6 in Kursalon will traditionally belong to the Slovak Philharmonic, which has been a part of the festival almost regularly since 1950.
