The premises of the Trenčín Castle will come to life in the coming days. From Monday, October 9, the windows will be exchanged on the individual palaces of the upper castle and at the same time the interior painting of the Matus Tower will be painted. Due to the construction works temporary access to some parts of the Trenčín Castle will be temporarily restricted. Restrictions will end on Friday, October 20th.
New windows and painting
The change of windows will affect Barborinho and Ľudovítův palác. The workers of the contractor, which is a wooden company from Ilava, changed a total of forty-eight windows. Today's windows have been badly damaged by weather conditions. "New windows will duplicate the existing ones, they are made of oak wood and the supplier provides them with a five-year guarantee," said Lenka Hesekova, charged with the administration of Trenčín Castle. Window replacement investments reach the forty-two thousand euros paid by the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín from its own resources. Simultaneously with the exchange of windows, painting of the Matus Tower interior will take place. "The dominant feature of the Trenčín Castle - Matus Tower is more than a hundred thousand visitors per year, which is also reflected in the state of the walls, especially on the stairs," says the castle manager. Maintenance workers over the next 14 days await work with gradual degreasing of walls, repairs and final lime paint. The museum's staff are also working to modernize the tower's exposure.
Modified castle operation
During the construction works in the premises of the Trenčín Castle, the circuits and the entrance height will be adjusted. During the working days, only the lower courtyard of the castle will be accessible to the public. Visitors will be able to see the Well of Love, the castle and the barracks. During the weekend, there will also be a "B" tour guide where guests will be able to see, besides the lower courtyard, also Ľudovítov, Barborin Palace and the lapidarium, besides the Matus Tower. The price of this circuit will also be financially advantageous. This limitation will end until Friday 20 October 2017.
During the weekend, the castle will come to life
On October 14, the Trenčín Castle will be transformed into the "kingdom of the worlds." Visitors will be able to make their own lights, try the artistic cutting of fruit and vegetables with Olega Brecíkova's master in this field, conquer various entertainment disciplines or taste fresh pumpkin pies. "For visitors, it will be a great experience to see a modified sightseeing tour in the light of lightning," recalls M. Tišková. Trenčiansky Castle will be open until 20:00 this day.
