For someone, it is a place that has preserved its original historical character and distinctive folk architecture. Tourists will appreciate the many natural slopes that can swim in the Papradnany valley.
The relatively small valley is situated in the northern part of the Trenčín Region. The village consists of four villages - Jasenica, Stupné, Brvnište and Papradno, whose area extends to the border with the Czech Republic. Papradno is, in addition, with about 2,500 inhabitants the largest village in the Považskobystrický district. The remarkable jea its area - more than 56 square kilometers.
The Papradnianka River flows through the valley, which springs on the southern slopes of Little Javornik, about 860 meters above sea level. From its source it first flows eastwards into the village of Podjavornik. Subsequently, it turns and continues in the southeast direction. The Váh is flooded near the Deal.
For the entire region there are characteristic cottages with preserved folk architecture as well as the so-called "bačovy". Log houses standing on soccer fields, in settlements and in solitary quarters come from the early 20th century. This is a typical example of the architecture of the Wallachians who have colonized this area since the 13th century. In Brvniště you can also visit a unique school building that has been preserved in the original place - a historic school. It was built by local inhabitants in the 19th century, and today there is a museum in its premises.
Not only the dwelling but also the local dialect proves that it is a rugged area. The spell of this region is one of the North-Slovakian dialects, and you will find it difficult to understand some words. For example, Papradne tells you, "It's a funny day for a dream," they say, it's a lot of snow.
Papradnanska Valley is one of the places where folk customs and traditions are still largely maintained. Here you can enjoy the classic killing, faishang and massacre. Significantly, local folklore groups - one of them is also Podjaran, who shone during the Earth contest.
Dolina directly bordering Považská Bystrica, which is the center of the whole district. The town extends into the valleys of the Javornik, the Strazov Mountains and the White Carpathians, through which the river Váh flows. Its history was directly related to the castle standing above Považské Podhradí, which is associated mainly with the family of Podmanické. Považská Bystrica can be interesting for itself, rather than for people who enjoy socialist architecture. The original old town completely changed the reconstruction in the 70s and 80s of the last century. During that period, new housing estates were built, hotels, restaurants and parking lots were added. Historic buildings that have survived this era include the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, where you will find remarkable Renaissance sculptural works. There is also a manor house with two corner towers, called Burg, and a Renaissance manor house in Orlová. On top of the hill above the town there is the Chapel of Sts. Helena from 1728, which this year damaged the fire.
Považská Bystrica, as well as the entire Papradnany Valley are a good starting point for trips to nature. Javorniky are even part of two protected landscape areas: the Protected Landscape Area of Kysuce and the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. You will find less demanding hiking trails, which are used by hikers, cyclists and cross-country skiers. Winter sports fans can contact the ski resort SKI Podjavorník again.
