Seven years ago, tourist enthusiasts from Veľké Uheriec built a 17-kilometer Ponitrím nature trail.

It includes ten information panels that will gradually acquaint visitors with the natural, geological, but also historical attractions of this region. It is intended mainly for hikers, but a large part can be completed by bicycle and cross-country skiing in winter.

After the rolling Brezov meadows, you will get to the Dobrolínske skaly nature reserve, which is the most famous, but also the most visited surface formation in the vicinity of Veľké Uheriec. There are many protected plant species. "In early spring, limestone rocks diversify the purple flowers of ponikleca. It is strange that in a small area there are biotopes of forest, forest-steppe, steppe and rocky steppe, “adds Čmiko. From the top there are beautiful views of the opposite Hrubý vrch and the surrounding area. It is definitely worth stopping in the Dobrolínská Cave, which is now 27 meters long and is still waiting for new discoveries. Another stop from which there are amazing views is Oselná skala. From this quartzite mountain there is an impressive, almost circular view of a large part of the Upper Nitra region.
