Iron maiden in the chaotic underground.
Recently, the media reported on the finding of an iron virgin used by Elisabeth Báthory to torture innocent girls in Cachtice. The report was a jail in April, but the fact is that a replica of this torture tool will be exposed to the public on 24th April 2016 in the chaotic underground.
The village of Čachtice is an important tourist area of the Trenčín region. The legend of "Bloody Count" Elisabeth Báthory annually attracts thousands of visitors. Almost 40 ths. Tourists went through the gates of Čachtice Castle last year. Information about Elizabeth Báthory can also be found in Draškovič's manor house, where visitors can find an eye-catching exposition about the Nadasdy family. The tourist attraction Čachtíc this year will also bring a new mysterious exposition in the underground corridors.
The representatives of the Čachtice agricultural cooperative, which own the mentioned underground corridors, have been trying to make them publicly available for several years. The mystery of the underground is helped to uncover young volunteers from the Concordia lovers association from Cachtice and experts from the civic association Slovak Underground. Volunteer work managed to clear and make available 150m underground passages.
Since the underground corridors are in direct proximity to the former Nadasdy's mansion, which used to be Elisabeth Báthory, many local history enthusiasts believe that young girls were tortured here. The attractiveness of the underground space has therefore decided to use the local agricultural cooperative to develop tourism.
Underground corridors with an exhibition of the life of Elisabeth Báthory as well as a replica of an iron virgin will be able to see the first visitors at the end of April. We firmly believe that the village of Čachtice, thanks to the new exhibition in the cave underground in this year's tourist season attracts the attention of a large number of sensational visitors.
