Did you know that today we celebrate World Tourism Day?
Since 1980, September 27 has been World Tourism Day. This day reminds us of the importance of tourism for international cooperation, the strengthening of world peace, the protection of nature and cultural heritage, the reduction of poverty and unemployment in the world and the overall improvement of the quality of life.
September 27 was established as World Tourism Day at the 3rd General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1979 in Spain and is the anniversary of the adoption of the WTO Statutes, the most important international organization in the field of world tourism. The timing of the celebration of this day is also symbolic because it falls on the end of the main season in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of the season in the Southern Hemisphere.
