The SKI CÍGEĽ ski area in the beautiful natural environment of the Vtáčnik Mountains can be found In close proximity to the village of Cígeľ , at the turn off of the main route Nováky - Prievidza.

History of skiing in Cigli

Cigli's downhill skiing has a long tradition. The first ski lift was put into operation in 1979 . The original ski slope is located on the left side of the current ski lift (view from the valley station). Under favorable snow conditions , this slope is also used now , under the name "Pitch No. 2" .

At the beginning of the 90s a new ski lift was built, equipped with the Tatrapoma H 130 transport facility. A new artificial ski slope with a total length of 800 meters and an elevation of 195 meters was created.

At the beginning of 2010, the snow system was put into operation, which significantly improved the ski conditions . Thanks to the snow system, the entire "Pitch No.1" is covered by a continuous layer of snow .

In addition to downhill skiing, Cigli has a rich history of cross-country skiing . With enough snow cover, approximately 40 km of modified cross-country ski runs are available . The main cross-country trails are known as the Grand Circuit (about 25km) and the Small Circuit (about 15km) .

The village of Cigeľ and the adjacent mountainous surroundings are annually the venue of a mass sporting event under the name of the Thanksgiving March of SNP . Every year there are hundreds of thousands of thousands of enthusiastic enthusiasts who enjoy the beauty of the surrounding winter nature.
